Students from Universitas Pembangunan Jaya (UPJ) attained commendable results at the 2025 Student Measured Sports Invitational, held from June 10 to 12 at the Bulungan Swimming Pool, South Jakarta Youth Center. The multi-day event convened student-athletes from 53 universities across Indonesia, competing in disciplines such as swimming, athletics, and pencak silat.
Representing UPJ, Genie Izdihar Putri—a 2024 cohort student from the Communication Studies program—excelled in two swimming categories. She secured a silver medal in the 100-meter butterfly and a bronze medal in the 50-meter butterfly, positioning herself within the top three finalists in both events amid a highly competitive field.
Commenting on the achievement, UPJ Vice Rector for Academic and Student Affairs, Dr. Ir. Agustinus Agus Setiawan, S.T., M.T., IPM, emphasized the broader significance of such accomplishments. “Achievements like this affirm that our students are not only engaged in academic pursuits, but also capable of competing at a substantive level beyond the classroom. It forms an integral part of the educational experience,” he stated.
Genie, reflecting on her experience, noted the intensity of the training regimen required to prepare for the competition. “Competing against peers from various universities demanded thorough preparation. Nonetheless, the experience was immensely valuable, both personally and as an athlete,” she remarked.
UPJ’s active involvement in the Invitational underscores the institution’s strategic commitment to fostering holistic student development. By encouraging participation in extracurricular and competitive domains such as sport, UPJ continues to promote the cultivation of diverse competencies among its student body—extending beyond academics into the realm of public performance and capacity building.
