UPJ Communication Students Hold Collaborative Creative Event
Bintaro, South Tangerang, July 2, 2025 – Students from the Communication Study Program at Universitas Pembangunan Jaya (UPJ) successfully organized their inaugural event, titled “Edisi Serba Koat,” as part of the Event Management course project under the group name Kelabyapan. Held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, at Koat Coffee in South Tangerang, the event was conducted in collaboration with strategic partners, including Soeara Warga, MRadio, and SoundWave. The series attracted over 300 attendees, marking a significant milestone in student-led experiential learning.
Rooted in the thematic essence of Koat—Funny, Authentic, Active, and Thematic—the program offered an inclusive and expressive public platform. It commenced with a community-centered health walk titled Se-Koat-Koatnya, followed by a Zumba session led by certified instructors Zin Babas and Zin Dava, drawing enthusiastic participation from attendees.
The energetic atmosphere was amplified by a post-Zumba distribution of hundreds of door prizes, fostering an environment of communal engagement and excitement. A live-on-air segment with MRadio featured interviews with prominent individuals across diverse creative disciplines, including musicians (Sehan Nono, Veryrans), content creator Ramarsha, model Nurrin, local band Pesta, and representatives from Kahf (Marketing Development), Koat Coffee (General Manager), and NYX (Brand Strategist).
A particularly memorable segment was the "Eat as Much as You Can" spicy food challenge, which tested participants' tolerance for extreme heat and offered incentives such as cash prizes and exclusive merchandise—successfully blending entertainment with competitive spirit.
Evening programming included a stand-up comedy performance by Yudhy Ramadhany and musical showcases by Enau, Mentari Novel, Verryans, Sehan Nono, Inertia, Pesta, Pure-pure, and Mock Tale. A karaoke session led by Lujabes and Atra Barona concluded the event, facilitating a spirited environment of collective singing and camaraderie.
Complementing the performances were interactive zones, including tarot reading services (Jasa Tarot 123), a temporary tattoo booth (Artistic Ink), and curated stalls featuring local merchandise by Jinji’s Stuff, Bikin Pegel, Anerqoaces, and Anatomi Art. In the words of Rizky Ambon, the main MC and comedian: “I didn’t expect it to be this lively and creative! From running, singing, eating spicy food, to Zumba—it was amazing! This is the literal definition of a true koat.”
The success of the Serba Koat edition illustrates the transformative potential of collaborative engagements between students, communities, and creative media platforms. It is anticipated that this initiative will inspire future endeavors that promote youth empowerment and provide avenues for creative expression.
The group name Kelabyapan was conceived as part of the Event Management course project under the Communication Studies program at UPJ. Soeara Warga, one of the event collaborators, is a social-media-based communication platform operating via Instagram since 2023, consistently disseminating timely and youth-oriented content.
