Proud! UPJ student wins silver medal at I Fell Slovenia Li-Ning Open 2025 International Championship
Competing as Indonesia’s men's doubles representatives, Jonathan and Adrian demonstrated remarkable resilience, advancing to the final after navigating a series of intense matches from the early rounds through the semifinals. Despite their commendable performance, they ultimately conceded victory to the Chinese Taipei pair, Huang Tsung I and Lin Ting Yu, following an intense and closely contested match. The final score reflected the competitiveness of the encounter: 27-25, 19-21, and 21-17.
Following the match, Jonathan expressed gratitude for the opportunity to reach the final, emphasizing that this achievement serves as both an invaluable experience and a source of motivation for future growth.
"We are truly grateful to have reached the final and to have secured a silver medal for Indonesia. This experience is invaluable and inspires us to continue developing our skills," stated Jonathan Farrel Gosal when contacted post-match.
Adrian reinforced the significance of teamwork, attributing their success throughout the tournament to effective collaboration and communication on the court.
"Each match provides valuable lessons. Although we did not claim the gold, reaching the final at a competition of this caliber is an extraordinary accomplishment—both as students and as athletes," remarked Adrian Pratama.
The I Fell Slovenia Li-Ning Open 2025 served as a platform to showcase the talent of emerging Indonesian badminton players. In addition to Jonathan and Adrian’s success in the men’s doubles category, other Indonesian athletes achieved notable results across various disciplines.
In the mixed doubles sector, Patra Harapan Rindorindo and Az Zahra Ditya Ramadhani secured a spot in the final but were ultimately bested by the Chinese Taipei duo Wu Guan Xun and Lee Chia Hsin with scores of 19-21 and 13-21. Moreover, Patra demonstrated versatility by advancing to the men's doubles semifinals alongside Muhammad Al Farizi.
Similarly, Deswanti Hujansih Nurtertiati exhibited exceptional prowess in the women's singles category, advancing to the final before conceding defeat to Malaysia's Wing Ling Ching, with a final score of 16-21 and 15-21.
