Students and the Public Can Now Enjoy Smart Class Facilities Thanks to a Higher Education Grant for UPJ

Bintaro, South Tangerang, 01/11/2024 - Universitas Pembangunan Jaya (UPJ) won a grant worth Rp400 million from the Learning Innovation Research Program organized by the Secretariat of the Directorate General of Higher Education, Research and Technology. This program supports the achievement of 8 Key Performance Indicators (IKU) of Private Universities through improving the quality of education based on digital technology.

With this assistance, UPJ will develop a smart classroom equipped with the latest technology to support interactive and digital learning on campus. This smart classroom facility is expected to provide students with a modern learning experience, support flexible learning processes, and strengthen the readiness of graduates to face the challenges of technology-based industries.

This grant adds another smart classroom at UPJ after earlier in 2024, UPJ attempted to develop one smart classroom with the results of cooperation with overseas universities. In this half of 2024, UPJ also developed two smart classrooms in the form of DKV smart labs and a shared smart classroom in the form of a collaborative space. Thus, UPJ ensures that by the end of this year, the Higher Education grant will increase the number of smart classrooms to four.

UPJ Vice Rector for Operations and Cooperation, Elisabeth Rukmini, Ph.D. expressed her appreciation for this grant. “The presence of this smart classroom is UPJ's real step in preparing graduates who are ready to compete at the national and international levels. We are committed to continuously improving educational facilities, so that students have access to the latest and high-quality learning methods,” she said.

Each smart classroom is equipped with advanced technology such as digital whiteboards, interactive projectors, fast internet connectivity, and collaborative tools that support the development of students' digital skills. These smart classrooms also allow UPJ to adopt more effective learning methods in achieving relevant learning objectives in the digital era. These smart classrooms open up opportunities for public use for hybrid meetings or for online seminars and workshops; through collaboration with UPJ.

The development of smart classrooms at UPJ brings various strategic benefits that are relevant to the needs of education in the digital era. This facility not only improves the quality of learning, but also provides a modern learning experience that is aligned with the demands of today's industry. With interactive technology, this learning space presents a more dynamic atmosphere, where students can be actively involved in an innovative and easy-to-understand learning process.

The smart classroom initiative also contributes significantly to the achievement of Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set for universities. Through more effective and adaptive learning facilities, UPJ supports the continuous achievement of national education standards. In addition, the smart classroom allows UPJ students to familiarize themselves with collaborative technologies and digital innovations that are essential in the world of work. This digital learning will hone relevant technological skills, so that students are better prepared to compete in the labor market.

Strengthening the digital infrastructure on campus is also an important part of this development. The smart classroom is the first milestone in UPJ's journey to build a technology-based campus, providing facilities that can support various digital-based learning programs in the future. This program is expected to be able to form a generation of students who are adaptive to changing times, making UPJ a superior campus in facing the challenges of higher education in the future.

This grant is expected to be the first step in strengthening UPJ's commitment to realizing an innovative digital technology-based campus. Through this program, UPJ is ready to play an active role in the development of higher education in Indonesia, especially in the field of digital learning, and encourage students to be more competent in global competition.
