Level UP! Universitas Pembangunan Jaya Hosts Architect Competency Test Batch 16

Bintaro, Tangerang Selatan 30/05/2024 - The UPJ Architecture Program, in collaboration with DAI, successfully hosted the Architect Competency Test Batch 16 organized by the Indonesian Architects Council (DAI) on May 25, 2024. This event represents a significant step in aligning the architect registration process with existing systems, while also providing architects the opportunity to obtain the Architect Registration Certificate (STRA) — a nationally recognized professional certification.

In organizing this test, DAI partnered with the Indonesian Institute of Architects (IAI) Banten Province and the UPJ Architecture Program. The test was conducted offline and computer-based at several locations designated by DAI, including UPJ, the Indonesian Islamic University (UII), and Syiah Kuala University (USK).

The event began with an opening speech from the Chairman of IAI Banten, Ar. Pierre Albyn Pongai, IAI. The test was divided into two sessions: the first session from 09.30 to 12.00 and the second session from 12.45 to 15.00. Participants were declared to have passed if they achieved the minimum passing grade in each module. The modules covered various crucial aspects of the architect profession:

- Module 1: Planning and Design
- Module 2: Humans, Buildings, and Environment
- Module 3: Building Systems, Technology, and Interdisciplinary
- Module 4: Project Management and Practice
- Module 5: History, Theory, and Art

Through the Architecture Program and FTD, UPJ demonstrated a strong commitment to supporting the architect profession by hosting this test. The Architect Competency Test not only evaluates the technical skills of participants but also ensures they meet the ethical and professional standards set by DAI and IAI.

Ar. Pierre Albyn Pongai, IAI, emphasized the importance of the Architect Competency Certificate (SKA) in the current job market. "In the past, those below experts didn't need an SKA. Now, SKA is required. That's why if fresh graduates already have an SKA, they can immediately participate in government projects," he explained.

Through this collaboration, a strong synergy is expected to be formed between educational institutions and professional organizations in producing skilled architects ready to compete nationally and internationally. UPJ is proud to contribute to advancing the architect profession in Indonesia and supporting the development of new talents in this field.
