Universitas Pembangunan Jaya hosted Accounting Fair 2016
UPJ Accounting Student Association hosted "Accounting Fair 2016" on April 11-12, 2016. Christianus Yudi Prasetyo, S.E., M.AK. the lecture in the Accounting Department who also serves as the counselor of UPJ Accounting Student Association, explained that this is the first time this event was organized and UPJ Accounting Student Association is committed to incorporate this event into their annual program. This two-day program was divided into two segments: Accounting competition which ran in the first day and a talkshow with "Let's Begin to Start-up Your Business" theme on the second day.
The Accounting Competition started on the first day of the event, April 11, 2016. Students from SMKN 2 Tangsel, SMK Prima Unggul, SMK Informatika, SMK Bintang Nusantara, SMAN 4 Tangsel and SMKN 20 Jakarta participated in the competition. These students organized into 12 groups, competed in preliminary rounds, semi final and final. It was a tight competition as the students tried their very best to answer the questions posed by the juries. SMKN 20 Jakarta group B came out as the winner of the competition, followed by SMKN 20 Jakarta group A as the runner up. The third place was secured by SMKN 2 Tangsel.
The Accounting Fair continued with a talkshow "Let's Begin to Start-up Your Business" on April 12, 2016. The first speaker was Eugenie Patricia, the Co-Founder of Puyo "silky dessert" which has gained popularity in the Indonesian culinary circle in the last 3 years. After three months of researching the market and trial-and-error in designing the product, we finally launched Puyo to the market in July 2013" explained Eugenie, who is known as Nini among her friends. Nini said that an entrepreneur has to be willing to go the extra miles. Fear of failure is natural but it should not stop a person to pursue his/ her dreams to start a business.
The second speaker was Pandji Harsanto, a financial planner, who gave a talkshow on the importance of having a healthy cashflow before creating a start-up business. Pandji Harsanto is actively contributing in a number of media such as blog, print media, and Kompas TV live dialog. Pandji is also a contributor on Atur Uang column Cita Cinta magazine, Rakyat Merdeka online, and a number of well-known media. Pandji, the author of the book "Make Your Own Plan" has the vision to strengthen the Indonesian economy by empowering families to understand and create financial planning as early as possible that it may result in financial freedom for them. It is hoped that, through this talkshow, high school students can be inspired to be active agents to drive the people's economy through entrepreneurship.
