Designing Building Structures 2
As a center of the higher education, Universitas Pembangunan Jaya ( UPJ ) with an expert in the field of Urban lifestyle and Urban Development organized an event "Learning Design Structures 2" in Ngopi Doeloe on Tuesday, November 17th, 2015.
The event was organized by the Civil Engineering Program UPJ that lasted for 2 hours from 16.00 pm and was followed by approximately 50 high school students. Head of the Civil Engineering Program, Ferdinand Fassa, ST., MT. Gave a speech to the participants to initiate events, and then immediately followed by a testimonial by student representatives of Civil engineering students named Brian (FY 2013) and Iga (FY 2013). Brian had to convey how it feels to be a student of Civil Engineering at the UPJ, "Although at the beginning of the lecture department was still very strange for me, but because of the support of lecturers, professors that always there when needed and always willing to give his knowledge so that we are really - really understand, finally I could be a Civil Engineering student completely", it-was expressed by Iga. Iga explained to the participants about the difference of Civil Engineering with Architecture studies "if the architect that created the beautiful shape of the building, it is our (Civil Engineering) job to calculate the strength the building , and if architects choose the color and texture of the material in accordance with the concept of the building, it’s our job to chose the good materials at the best price ".
After that session, the event continued with the introduction of the Student Association of Civil Engineering by Aldo (FY 2013) as chairman of the property division. Aldo explained that Hima of Civil Engineering is a forum for students where they can get together and exchange ideas that lead to a beneficial activity. Aldo and friends has made an event called "UPJ Civil Engineering Week" and the Basic Leadership Training, those activities has some benefits such as improving the ability to communicate and expand networking due to the collaboration with Hima from other universities. After that, there were also an explaination about the engineering subjects studied by students of Civil Engineering, it was Stanley (FY 2013) he demonstrated and explained in detail the work of the engineering courses that made using Autocad software. Participants increasingly look enthusiastic when following the game to building structures using Uno Stacko guided by the students of Civil Engineering. The event ended with a group photo and chatting session.
