Urban Photography Workshop : Citizen Journalism & Documentary

Universitas Pembangunan Jaya and LabTanya has organized a workshop about “Urban Photography” with UPJ Psychology students that one of the workshop theme called  'Citizen Journalism' held on Tuesday, November 3rd, 2015. This event was delightful and was greeted enthusiastically by fellow high school students who attended this event. The speakers of the workshop, Ardi Yunanto and Adrian Jonathan Pasaribu,  invited the students who attend to understand that the most  important thing of a good writing is perspective.

At the beginning of the workshop, the speakers invited participants to exchange perspectives, thoughts on a variety of issues that are often found in everyday life as citizens of Jakarta. Furthermore, the student in groups are asked to work on a small project where they have to choose one issue that is often found in everyday life, and they have to made a perspective and formulate it in two to three paragraphs that made a short article. At the end of the activities, this paper was presented by each group to get the evaluation and input from both sources, Ardi and Adrian.

The next workshop on the theme "Documentary" held on November 4, 2015. The Speaker who attended this workshop was  Jayasrana Dimas, a producer who is also vice Cultural Attache of the French Institute in Indonesia. "Do not be afraid to make a movie!" Once Dimas said, "because even without a great equipment, we still can make an interesting movie."

The participants seemed enthusiastic when they were given tasks in groups by Dimas. Each group were given the opportunity to compose a free story accompanied by photographs to support the story that will be presented. Some groups considered has been writing a very good  script,  there were a lot of stories presented  from the story of teen romance to the story of college life at UPJ. In the end, all participants took a picture together with the speaker and event organizers.
