Architecture student of UPJ Retracing Tana Toraja
May 31th until June 7, 2015 were the days that being anticipated by students of Architecture because they were going to do Architecture Second excursion. This time, the excursion will be held in Tana Toraja, South Sulawesi. During the week the students Trying to deepen Culture of Toraja society, especially the influence of their cycle life for the architectures objects that their build.
During the process of collecting data, the excursion participants which are 16 participants, stay in the tongkonan as a shelter in 'Toraja society. They feel how the structures of Vernacular architecture Toraja gave an effect against the occupants. Every details and connection between the construction tongkonan, alang (granaries), and liang (The corpse placed in this when there’s a Death Ceremony) Become What inspired the students.
Beside all of that UPJ Architecture students also studying at the cave graves, graveyard baby, And attend the ritual Rumba Tuka (wedding) and Rumba Solo (Death ceremony). Death indeed a common thing that even inseparable from daily 'Toraja society. This too, are the event that inspiring for Architecture UPJ students to enrich their studies, especially to preserve Indonesian vernacular architecture.
