Muhammad Riandy Sopiandi (Accountancy, Semester 3) won a Best Speaker Award at National Essay Competition 2018 on “Level of Taxpayers Compliance in Indonesia”, in Jakarta, 17-18 October 2018.

National Essay Competition (NEC) 2018 is an essay writing competition for university student focusing on issues about Taxpayer Compliance in Indonesia. From the two essays submitted by students of UPJ, Riandy’s writing was selected into the Top Six.

In his essay Riandy talked about the use of social media platform as means for promoting and educating public about tax. Being a millenial himself, Riandy’s sees that social media is a very powerful platform for information exchange activities used on a daily basis accross generations. After few brief researches, he came out with an essay tittled “Social Media as means for Promoting and Educating Public To Increase Public Awareness About Tax for Future Investment”

Having been actively involved in various campus activities as UPJ Student Ambassador, Riandy who’s currently a 3rd semester student at Accountancy department, is no stranger to delivering presentation. He then successfully demonstrated his presentation skill in front of the panelist during the National Essay Competition 2018 on Wednesday, 17 October 2018 and was named the Best Speaker.

“I was surprised, but very happy with the result. I think I won the  Best Speaker Awiand because I believed in what I talked about in the presentation. There were competitors who had actually  good materials, but didn’t have the confident, so they weren’t able to convince the panelists and audiences.” said Riandy.
